Rate Increase for Glaize Creek Sewer District Clients

We want to keep you informed about an important decision affecting your sewer service rates for the upcoming fiscal year, starting October 1, 2025.

Why Are Rates Increasing?

To maintain the high level of service you expect, the District is investing in essential infrastructure improvements. Many of the original sewer lines in the Village of Jefferson and Parkton, which were installed in the 1970s, are reaching the end of their useful life. These lines are now vulnerable to experiencing an above-average rate of failure, which is why we’ve initiated a two-phase improvement program, supported by funding from Jefferson County through the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA).

The funds used for these critical upgrades were originally intended for other essential purposes, such as expanding treatment capacity and replacing aging equipment. In order to return the District’s resources to their original purpose, we must raise rates. The primary source for this increased funding will come from the Base Rate, which is the fee all customers pay regardless of usage.

The increase will help cover the shortfall created by infrastructure investments and ensure the continued reliability and growth of our sewer system. Specifically, this increase will help us restore funds for future upgrades and maintenance.

New Rates:

In-District Base Rate: $65 per quarter (an increase of $15)

Out-of-District Base Rate: $95 per quarter (an increase of $15)

Connection fees will not be impacted by this rate increase.

Updated Usage Charge – $.00374 per gallon of waste generated (currently $.00332)

Why We’re Investing Now:

By investing in modern infrastructure, we are preventing future breakdowns, reducing the risk of service disruptions, and ensuring that our system can meet the demands of a growing community. These improvements are not just about repairing old infrastructure – they’re about building a resilient, long-term system.

We understand that any rate increase is never easy, but we believe this adjustment is essential to maintain the high standards you expect and deserve.

Thank you for your understanding and continued support as we work to improve and strengthen our infrastructure for the future.
